About this artwork

This is one in a series of paintings I have executed over the years exploring ponds, waterlilies, koi and goldfish. These comet goldfish are juveniles that are referred to as fingerlings from my neighbor's pond. I always love to see the fingerlings emerge in the early morning. I used loose brushwork to try to accentuate the movement of the fish and the fleeting reflections in the ripples.
