About this artwork

I was fortunate to travel to Venice this last year. It is one of my favorite cities. I feel as though it's a museum under the sky. Venice is an exceptional place for an artist. Every corner is an inspiration for a painting. But in this specific piece, I tried to convey a sense of the magic that I felt when all the lights went on while it was getting dark: the reflections in the water, the gondolas and boats going by, the mesmerized tourists taking pictures trying to capture the incredible beauty of this unique city built on water. I used a textured board for this painting to try to convey the Old World nature of this amazing place.
