About this artwork

The setting of this painting is a place that the artist often visits and paddles on his kayak. On some autumn mornings, he likes to set off from home before the sun has risen to paddle the reservoir as the sun comes up. In this painting, the sun had just topped the ridge behind him and illuminated one of the banks with a bright light that accentuated all the colors and textures of autumn.
