About this artwork

Central Park in New York City is one of my favorite places to spend time in. The grandeur of the place pervades every scene. The juxtaposition of elegant architecture and nature is part of the intentional beauty of the place. In many ways the scale of things is deceiving. This painting of Conservatory Pond plays up that unexpected sense of scale. The model boats are deceptively larger than they appear at first glance. The scintillating light bouncing off the water, the sails, the foliage and the stonework was breathtaking that day. The painting is varnished, wired and ready for hanging. The edges are a clean white gesso.
