About this artwork

This rendition of the magnificent Astor Hall in the main branch of the New York Public Library overlooks the hall from the south staircase. While in college, I spent many hours in the building researching and reading. It is still one of my favorite places to visit when I am in the area. It never gets old for me and I always view it like one of the newcomers who stop to take in the beautiful stone architecture. There is a cluster of visitors in the left of center that reflects the astonishment of gazing up at the arches and vaulted ceiling. The painting is varnished, wired and ready for hanging. The edges are a clean white gesso.
