About this artwork

A study of a song sparrow's nest. Their eggs are a lovely blue/green with light speckling. I've created the eggs in mixed media using my eggshell-ing technique of collaging real eggshells on the surface of the canvas. Using acrylic gel medium, the strands in the nest are raised up so the piece has a lot of textural interest when viewed from an angle. The image is continued into the sides of the gallery wrapped canvas and the back is wired and ready to hang.
