About this artwork

Two horses standing comfortably together. Part of Jennifer's Kintsugi Horse series, she collaged eggshells over gold and silver paint for the horses' bodies and used thick acrylic gel medium to sculpt the manes. Inspired by the Japanese art form of Kintsugi, the art of repairing fragmented pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a spiritual philosophy, it is believed that something becomes resilient more beautiful because of its imperfections, not despite them.
