About this artwork
In this piece, I kept a simple almost monochromatic color palette, says artist Scott Dykema. I wanted to keep the image of the heron separated from the background with the use of the gold and silver leafing and just subtle color depth in the bird, the branches, and the background. The work is gorgeous and subtle at the same time.
