Putting Down Roots
About this artwork
The idea of home is one I am currently working on reinventing. Growing up my home was not the most calm or peaceful. My parents divorced when I was 7 yrs old and we moved around a lot. Leaving home to go to college was a welcomed change and I never went back. About 4 years ago we became pregnant with our first child. We are now expecting our third child. I am finally in a place in my life where I feel I am creating the home I have always longed for. I am finally putting down roots, making connections and friendships, instead of moving around every few years. Our home is filled with love, warmth, laughter. We are happy with our life and excited to continue growing and expanding. In this painting, the house is flying, soaring above a field of tulips. Its fertile ground full of potential and abundance, the house is looking for the perfect place to settle in and "nest". It's been my experience that a house is just the shell, the outer portion/vessel of what can be made a home. Home is what we bring to it, the love and life energy that transforms a house into a home.
The painting is on gallery wrapped canvas with finished black edges. It is finished with a semi-gloss varnish and comes wired to hang.
