Happy Birthday, René Magritte!
There’s a lot to be thankful for this time of the year. Add surrealism to the list. Today is René Magritte’s birthday. He would be 114 today. The whole team would like to wish René Magritte and surrealist-lovers a big happy birthday. In case you don’t know much about René Magritte, I’ve put together some images and quotes from him below. He is known for unusual juxtapositions and surreal compositions.

Rene Magritte, Brussels, 1967 (November 21, 1898 – August 15, 1967)
He also had a fondness for bowler hats. I don’t blame him. They are pretty cool.

Son of Man, 1964
“Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see.” —René Magritte

The Treachery of Images, 1928-29
“It is a union that suggests the essential mystery of the world. Art for me is not an end in itself, but a means of evoking that mystery.” —René Magritte
