New Artist Spotlight: Sandra Duran Wilson, Daphne Knox and Christopher M. Sikon

Happy New Year! What better way to celebrate new beginnings than with a batch of freshly-curated art? Every week, UGallery releases new art from our current artists and welcomes new artists to the community. We love seeing what each new week will bring. Say “Hello” to Sandra Duran Wilson, Daphne Knox and Christopher M. Sikon. These are UGallery’s newest artists! Read on below to learn a little bit more about their work.

Sandra Duran Wilson. Santa Fe, New Mexico

Sandra Duran Wilson has synesthesia which she describes as being “a crossing of senses.” When she hears music, she sees colors and numbers. When she sees formulas, she hears music. This blending of sight and sound literally and figuratively influences Sandra’s art. On the borders of Abstract Expressionism, Sandra blends science, art and the spirit.

Daphne Knox. San Francisco, CA

Daphne Knox’s “weapon” of choice is her paintbrush. The brush allows Daphne to battle the beauty of landscapes simply and beautifully. Her strategy for capturing an appreciation for life’s energy is based in the range of textures in her paintings. The result is art that traverses the fluid and the rough.

Christopher M. Sikon. Mento, Ohio

With a child-like energy, Christopher M. Sikon pulls inspiration from Henri Matisse and Jean-Michel Basquiat to create fluid portrayals of the human experience. His intentions are clear and yet immediately tender, opening up Christopher’s universe to his viewers.
