New Artist Spotlight: Julia Cairns

Holy Cow

At the age of 21, Julia Cairns decided to move to Kenya. It was in Africa that she learned how to paint. She lived there for ten years and that time — along with her travels — influences a lot of her work. She constantly searches for an interesting story, bold colors and beautiful patterns. In creating these works, she hopes to create a feeling of “universality.”  

“I hope that whichever place in the world inspired me, the emotion in the picture will translate into all human experience,” she explains. 

Julia recently joined UGallery bringing a colorful range of works. Many of them were inspired by her time in India and use acrylic paint, fabric and ink. Check out some of her work below.
