As a child, Diane Flick felt a sort of empathy towards inanimate objects — even ordinary things like a kleenex box.
Her current work plays with the idea of “bringing consciousness to machines in the forms of playfulness and emotional warmth.” Each of her compositions comes to life through scraps of paper that have been cut or torn. She finds these pieces in old magazines and more, carefully bringing them together to create something new.
