INTRODUCING: AMY RATTNER

Amy Rattner is a Bay Area artist who paints vibrant animal portraits inspired by the American southwest. Her acrylic and watercolor paintings use strong lines, vivid colors, and symbolic patterns to convey the spiritual, mythological, and cultural significance of various animals. After receiving her BA and MA from Stanford University, she began her artistic career as a graphic designer. The vivid, stylized quality of her work today reflects her background. Amy is interested in examining the influential role that animals have played through different cultures and societies.

INTRODUCING: QUIN DE LA MER

Surrounded by artists and activists in San Francisco’s Mission district, Quin de la Mer creates conceptual, mixed-media artwork. She combines classical fresco techniques and contemporary abstraction to create what she calls “Modern Frescos.” Despite the many layers and textured appearance, the surface of each artwork is smooth and highly polished. As light reflects off the surface, each piece is in a constant state of change. Music is a crucial element to her work. Quin, a classically trained pianist, considers her frescos visual pieces of music. Just as music is composed of vibration of sound, her paintings are composed of vibrations of light.

INTRODUCING: ATHENA RINK

California-based artist Athena Rink paints Expressionist portraits of female figures that investigate the tension between spirituality and humanity. Throughout her portfolio, she uses strong black line work to underscore the forms within her free-flowing colors. She relies heavily on her own intuition to create, and often starts a piece with minimal or no planning. Every piece is a spontaneous expression of Athena’s passion, emotions, and energy.
