It’s Paul Klee’s birthday! He’d be turning a grand 133 years old. What comes to mind when we talk Paul Klee? We think of the Bauhaus school (ah, cubism) and Wassily Kandinsky (another German expressionist painter). While his work holds a bit of a childishness and primitivism, his use of color and bold lines are confident examples of a powerful era in art.

Paul once wrote, “Colour has taken possession of me; no longer do I have to chase after it, I know that it has hold of me forever…Colour and I are one. I am a painter.”
In honor of this adventurous and inventive painter, we have picked some pieces from the UGallery collection to match his most famous contributions to art history.
