For our series From Where I Create, we are going behind the scenes to see the various places where UGallery artists create their work.
So far, we’ve seen photos of studios everywhere from Kauai to New York. This week, Michele Morata shares her unique space with us.
Michele paints in a Laguna Beach studio but there’s one object there that means the most to her:
My mom’s hope chest is the only piece of her furniture I kept after she passed away and it just ended up in my studio. I’m now completely and utterly attached to it staying there! Her hope chest is magical to me and inspires me every time I’m in the studio. I think my mom would really love the fact that I use her hope chest as my main easel although I have five more easels — this one is my favorite, of course, on many levels. And I always have a photo of me and my mom near or on the hope chest while I work.
Stay tuned for the next installment!
