Since 1942, Edward Hopper’s after-hours bar scene in Nighthawks has become an iconic depiction of nightlife in art. The classic American painting, created at the height of the second World War, peers into not only a Greenwich village diner, but the complexities of the night.
Fascinated by the complexities and inspired by Hopper, the UGallery curators have created the Nighthawks Collection. The collection centers on scenes and symbols of night with a focus on the interplay of moonlight and artificial light against dark colors.
